Welcome

I am a licensed psychotherapist with an office in Philadelphia’s East Falls neighborhood. I have training and experience working with individuals and couples from many backgrounds with a broad range of issues, concerns, and interests. I received a Masters degree in Marriage & Family Therapy with a concentration in Sex Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University.

I have practiced meditation in the Zen tradition for about 20 years, and I specialize in counseling couples and individuals who are interested in incorporating a more mindful way of being in their lives. This is included in my therapeutic work with clients by exploring a deeper sense of the present moment: looking at what is happening in the body, mind, and spirit--right here, right now. I help clients unlock old, painful patterns, and together we look at what is truly informing your emotional reactions and thoughts.

Clients have called me warm and funny, and though often in therapy we need to talk about the painful stuff, it helps to bring some warmth and humor into the room. Life is hard and confusing sometimes for all of us, and as we stumble along trying to integrate and comprehend what life brings, it helps to have a sense of humor, and, ultimately, to try and love and appreciate ourselves for who we truly are.

I run a small practice, and I believe this has many benefits for my clients. It prevents burn-out as a therapist.  It helps me to be a more balanced person who can do quality work because I have a full, rich life outside of my practice. And it allows my clients to be more than just a number in a blur of people I see in the week.  With a small practice, I get to give real thought and attention to my client’s lives and circumstances, and I get to see each client as the unique and special person they are. And I am also always able to return a call within 24 hours, and usually much sooner.
